Message from the Principal
Dear Parents
I was appointed Principal of Thornhill Primary School in July of 2012, having served as the Deputy Principal since 2007. It gives me great pleasure to head such a prestigious school in Brits. Passion, dedication and commitment from everyone have turned this little school into a great school.
The school is well-established, nestled among beautiful gardens, and boasts thoughtfully planned facilities catering for all aspects of a child’s development. The school caters for children from Grade R to Grade 7. The school continues to grow each year, with parents approaching the school daily for new enrolments.
All our staff is highly qualified, extremely professional and well trained on the CAPS curriculum.. We also provide a varied extramural programme including Athletics, Rugby, Soccer, Netball, Cricket and Hockey.
Being part of the Thornhill Primary and headed by a dynamic and innovative leadership team ensures that our school remains at the forefront of pre-primary education.
We have been the forerunner of many new and innovative curriculum developments. I feel honoured to be a part of this team. Please remember that we are here to serve your children’s very best interests and will do so to the best of our abilities.
“Working together only enhances your child’s educational experiences. To this end, I ask that you keep in touch with your child’s teacher, as well as with me. I welcome parental input, comments or concerns; my door is always open for your questions or feedback.
In my role as Principal I will continue to ensure that our dynamic school offers our community and parent-body best practices and value in pre-primary education.
Kind regards,
Marius van Heerden
